Muslim holidays Kurban Bayram and Oraza Bayram have received official status in California. The state, known as the world center of entertainment – it is here that Hollywood, Disneyland, and San Francisco are located – is also distinguished by one of the largest Muslim communities in the USA. The law gives local Muslims the right to a day off in state educational institutions and in public service. California became the second state in the country after Washington to recognize Muslim holidays.
