62-year-old Leyla Ibragimova is a biologist by education. But more than 40 years ago, she found her calling in the game of checkers. For many years, she has been passing on her knowledge and skills to students of the Esref Shemyi-zade School in Akmescit. In early November, Leyla-khanum became the world champion in checkers at the world championship in Alanya (Turkey), in which competitors from 29 countries took part. Leyla Ibragimova bypassed all competitors and returned to Crimea with a victory.
