The evening silence at the foot of the Sudak cliffs comes alive in the village of Taraqtaş. Throughout the holy month of Ramadan, the courtyard of the Hacı Bey Mosque becomes a gathering place for hundreds of people. More than 350 guests gather here daily to share a festive meal and the joy of community. The lively courtyard, the ringing laughter of children – of whom there are especially many – and the sincere smiles of the guests create the very atmosphere of a large, friendly family. While experienced cooks work on another culinary masterpiece, the parishioners spend their time awaiting the adhan and the communal prayer.
