In the history of Islam in Crimea there were many religious buildings, of which only documentary evidence has survived. Some of them were destroyed intentionally, others fell into dispair, finding themselves unnecessary. Historians Hakan Kırımli and Nicole Kanchal-Ferrari talk about one of the abandoned mosques in Crimea – Sultan Bayazid II Camisi – in their book “Kırımda’ki Kırım Tatar (Türk-İslam) Mimari Yadigarları”.
