A special role in Islam is given to the ritual of ablution — it is a prerequisite for prayer. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The key to paradise is prayer, and the key to prayer is ablution.” Without proper ablution, the prayer of a Muslim will be invalid.
