Friday (Juma) in Islam is considered a holiday, about the merits of which there are many hadiths. The word «juma» comes from the Arabic root ‘jam’, which means «to gather, embrace, unite.» According to the Islamic calendar, the day of Juma begins immediately after evening prayer on Thursday and ends with evening prayer on Friday. Therefore, Muslims are advised to start worship on the night before Friday.
