Kiyat Village – A Haven in the Steppes

Today, the village of Kiyat (Uvarovo) in the Leninsky District is a true backwater from which young people are dispersing. But in 1968, five Crimean Tatar families settled here—among the first who were able to return to their homeland through organized recruitment, with the formal support of the authorities. Gradually, a community of Crimean Tatars began to form here, and for many returning to Crimea, this village became a true haven from which our compatriots moved deeper into the peninsula.
