Nobody wants the monument to Amet-Khan Sultan to be placed in the center of the square

The monument to the legendary pilot, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-Khan Sultan, was decided not to be placed in the center of the square named after him in the Crimean capital. In February, it became to know that this year, in honor of the 100th birthday anniversary of the pilot, the monument to Amet-Khan Sultan will be erected in Aqmescit. The place of installation was supposed to be a barely noticeable corner — the intersection of Kirova Avenue and Pionersky Lane near the Central Market. This has caused a public outcry amongst Crimean Tatars. Indeed, more than 10 years ago, the center of the square named after Amet-Khan Sultan was chosen as the spot for installation of the monument.
