The Greek Constitution recognizes Orthodoxy as the leading religion in the country, while guaranteeing freedom of religion for all citizens. Muslims make up about 1.5% of the country’s population. Their main place of residence is the Thrace region. The rights of the local Muslim population are officially recognized.
