“In terms of population and gardens, it is the largest and richest in Crimea” – this is how Ozenbash was described by local historian and ethnographer Vasily Kondaraki, who visited the village in the middle of the 19th century. The village of partisan glory and countless anecdotes about Ahmet-akai, the village that once claimed the status of a city, today has a population of no more than 400 people. But the Ozenbash people and their descendants live all over Crimea – and once a year they gather here for one of the largest meetings of fellow villagers on the entire peninsula.
