The Chuvash people are the most numerous Turkic people, the majority of whose believers are Christians. They are the indigenous inhabitants of the Chuvash Republic in Russia. The Chuvash language is the only living representative of the Bulgar group of Turkic languages. Many scholars mark its significant difference from other Turkic languages.
