Altaians are the collective name of the Altai tribes. These people include several ethnic groups with their own characteristics: Teleuts, Telengits, Chelkans, Kumandins, Tubalars. The current Altaians are recognized by scientists as the direct descendants of the most ancient tribes: Huns, Sarmatians, Scythians, Turks, Mongols and Dzungars.
