One day in the 1990s, a graduate student Ruslan Medzhitov read an article by American professor Charles Janeway about the immune response of the human body. The young scientist was very interested in this hypothesis and did everything to work with its author together. A few years later, Medzhitov and Janeway together proved the existence of a special receptor in the human body and discovered a new type of immune defense, which is now known as innate immunity.
