Among the Central Asian republics where Crimean Tatars were deported to as a result of the 1944 exile was Kyrgyzstan. Many moved there after the deportation to escape starvation, or came here to study or work. Even today there is a Crimean Tatar diaspora in Kyrgyzstan, which does not forget its roots even far from its homeland.
