Deported Crimean Tatars raised tobacco farming in Kazakhstan

After the war, the Kazakh authorities decided to develop tobacco farming on their land. This is how the Chilik tobacco farm appeared, not far from Almaty. To grow and cultivate tobacco, the authorities attracted deportees, including Crimean Tatars. After all, before the deportation, tobacco farming was one of the leading areas in Crimea. In 1946-47, Crimean Tatars from Uzbekistan and the Urals came to Kazakhstan by recruitment.
