Facing repressions in the 1930s lots of Crimean Tatars left Crimea for Azerbaijan. Common language and religion made it comfortable to live there. Prominent Crimean Tatar poets, scientists, musicians made a contribution to Azerbaijan culture and science. Lots of Crimean Tatars still live there.
