On September 12, 2001, a monument to the outstanding Turkic scholar and poet Bekir Choban-zade was unveiled in the center of Karasubazar. The monument was installed on the initiative of businessman and philanthropist Resul Velilyaev. Even earlier, in the 1990s, through the efforts of activists, a memorial stone, a library, and a street named after Choban-zade appeared in the city.
