A scientist of Crimean Tatar origin, Abul-Baqa al-Kafauwi, was a well-known figure in the Islamic world, in particular the Ottoman Empire. In Crimea, few people know about this philosopher and writer. However, the scientist’s handwritten materials are still stored in the archives of Turkey and other eastern countries. Al-Kafauwi was the most famous native of Crimea in the early modern period and influenced the work of many Islamic authors.
