Shefika Gasprinskaya was a progressive woman whose social activities left a mark on the history of Crimea and the entire Turkic world. Thanks to this amazing woman, as early as in 1917, Muslim women achieved the eradication of polygamy, political and social equality with men, which allowed them to enter all social spheres of activity in those years. Shefika Khanum points out two main reasons for the discrimination of Crimean Tatar women: the lack of the right to a homeland and an erroneous interpretation of Islam.
