Kuddus Menzade died on a mission

On May 8, a monument to two pilots was unveiled in the town of Buzharovo near Moscow. One of them is a Crimean Tatar, native of the village of Sarabuz (Gvardeyskoye), second Lieutenant Kuddus Menzade. He died on November 25, 1941, during the mission to destroy the bridge captured by the enemies. For years, the Crimean pilot’s relatives knew nothing about his fate. Only 70 years later the searchers found out a photograph of the plane’s wreckage stored in German archives. Then they were able to find the crash site and the names of the crew members. And the staff of the Crimean Tatar Museum of Cultural and Historical Heritage found relatives of Kuddus Menzade.
