Crimean Scholar Was a Famous Sheikh of Cairo

Ziyaeddin b. Sadullah Kyrymi was a Crimean scholar who became one of the most famous mudarrises (teachers) of Cairo. He educated an entire cohort of Egyptian scholars of his time and even earned the honorary title «sheikh-ush-shuyukh,» meaning «sheikh of sheikhs.» Based on materials from historian Nariman Abdulvapov’s article «On the History of Science, Education and Literature in Crimea during the Golden Horde Period.»
