Mongene Castle – A Little-Known Landmark Near Aqmescit

In the seemingly unremarkable settlement of Colman (Pionerskoye) near Aqmescit, there are two unusual landmarks. One is the abandoned but well-preserved Eski Saray Mosque – a unique monument of Crimean Tatar architecture from the 14th century. But there is also another interesting building in the village with a complex fate, visited by few tourists – a late 19th-century estate, popularly nicknamed Mongene Castle.
