After a certain period of time, Muslims place a bashtash — a gravestone with the name, place and date of birth and death of the deceased. But often, in addition to biographical data, the inscriptions contain epitaphs in the form of couplets or quatrains. Epitaphs have historical value: they contain important information about the language, folklore, history, culture and psychology of the people. The materials of Enver Ozenbashly «Epitaphs of the Crimeans» were used to prepare this publication.
