Simferopol could have swapped its name with the town of Old Crimea

Did you know that the town of Old Crimea — Stary Krim could have been called Simferopol? Akmesdzhit, in its turn, was supposed to get the name of Levkopol. This was the original idea of Prince Grigory Potemkin, who was engaged in the year of 1784 with renaming of Crimean towns.
