The Crimean Nuclear Power Plant is perhaps the most famous unfinished construction project on the peninsula. Its construction was halted in 1987 when the first power unit was already 80% complete. 500 million Soviet rubles were spent on the ambitious project, which is why the Crimean NPP is called the most expensive unfinished reactor in the world.
