The Schwetzingen Mosque was built by order of Charles IV Theodore in the palace park of his summer residence Schwetzingen (Mannheim). Charles Theodore was an enlightened monarch and made sure that Manheim was not inferior to European capitals. And he decorated his park with architectural symbols of tolerance.
