Having visited Crimea twice, having traveled almost the entire peninsula in 1803 and 1806, the German artist Johann Karl Ferdinand von Kügelgen captured Crimea in his works at the beginning of the 19th century. Thanks to his work, unique landscapes of the peninsula have been preserved, with its ancient architecture, houses and indigenous inhabitants – the Crimean Tatars. The artist’s works, albums of lithographs today have not only artistic, but also documentary and historical value.
