After the criminal deportation of 1944, almost all settlements of Crimea were renamed (about 1,400 names). The changes also affected the urban toponymy. Thus, in Aqmescit (Simferopol) all the names of streets and alleys that somehow remind of the Crimean Tatars were changed. The materials of the III volume of «Code of historical, architectural and cultural monuments of the Crimean Tatars» were used to prepare the publication.
