An important episode in the revival of embroidery was Mamut Churlu’s acquaintance with embroiderer Zuleikha Bekirova, who knew the unique technology of double-sided embroidery that was considered lost. Zuleikha Bekirova taught 12 master embroiderers, and told about the meaning of some of the ornek symbols.
