Statistically, around 70% of those nominated for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union received the award. But for Crimean Tatars, this statistic collapses—largely due to the criminal deportation of 1944. Six Crimean Tatar Heroes are known, but based on the number of nominations, there could have been far more.
