In the old days, it was not uncommon to see musharabi on the balconies of Bakhchisaray houses. These carved wooden treillages in the Eastern style not only decorated the balconies, but also shaded them. In the Khan’s palace musharabi were also used for hiding the harem dwellers from prying eyes.
