In 1947, the mention of the Crimean Autonomous Republic disappeared from the Constitution

On February 25, 1947, the Supreme Council of the USSR passed the Law «On Amending and Supplementing the Text of the Constitution of the USSR.» As a result, the mention about the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic disappeared from Article 22. The Autonomy was formed in 1921, and already in 1945, after the deportation of Crimean Tatars, the Autonomous republic was “reformatted” into the region. In preparing the publication, the materials of the historian Gulnara Bekirova were used.
