Ending the war, withdrawing Russian troops from Crimea, and not interfering in its affairs – these are some of the points of the Küçük Kaynarca Peace Treaty, signed by the Russian and Ottoman Empires on July 21, 1774. The treaty marked the end of the Russo-Turkish War and, among other things, recognized the independence of the Crimean Khanate. Nevertheless, Crimea was annexed by the Russian Empire 9 years later.
