A head cover was one of the main attributes of the Crimean Tatar women’s costume. They were very diverse, and served not only as a decoration, but also carried a certain meaning. The finest rectangular marama coverings were traditionally woven from white and cream threads, they were distinguished by rich embroidery and color variety. In preparing this article,we have used the materials of the senior researcher of the Bakhchisaray historical and cultural museum-reserve Safie Abduramanova, and also the materials from the catalog “Crimean Tatar female head cover”.
