Among the Crimean azizs, Salghir Baba is one of the most revered. Here rests an ascetic, thinker, and healer, whom we know only by his nickname – Salghir Baba. According to historian H. Krymlı, he was a saint (baba) of the Bektashi Sufi order and died in 1736 during the invasion of Field Marshal Minikh’s troops into Aqmescit. In the 19th century, there was a türbe here, where pilgrims from all over Crimea gathered hoping to be healed of illnesses. The türbe did not survive the 1930s. Today the monument is in a deplorable state.
