Gazy Mansur: One of the Most Famous Crimean Shrines

Aziz (shrine) Gazy Mansur in Bakhchisarai is a famous and visited place since the 15th century. Tradition says that Gazy Mansur was one of the Sahabahs — companions of the Prophet who arrived in Crimea, where he was buried after his death. At the site of his burial at the foot of Chufut-Kale, a tekie monastery was built. To this day, only the entrance portal, parts of the supporting walls and foundation, as well as the tombstones of the ancient Muslim cemetery have survived from the entire complex.
