In the 1970s, hundreds of Crimean Tatars, without waiting for assistance from the authorities, rushed to Crimea. In their homeland, they were denied registration under various pretexts, and without registration, they were prosecuted for violating passport regulations and could be evicted even from purchased homes. But on October 15, 1978, the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a Decree that simplified the eviction of Crimean Tatars from Crimea. Now, a decision by the district executive committee was sufficient for this.
