The main character raises a rebellion against the injustice and cruelty of the rich, goes to the mountains, leaving his beloved, and becomes a national hero. This is the plot not of a Hollywood blockbuster, but of the first Crimean Tatar feature film «Alim.» It was released in 1926. And despite the fact that «Alim» is a silent film, it had enormous success and still remains an encyclopedia of Crimean Tatar life in the 19th century.
