Shevket Asanov This is Our Land, we Returned to Our Motheland

Shevket Asanovis the organizer and leader of the construction artel of the Crimean Tatars in the village of Zalankoy (Kholmovka) in the Bakhchisarai district. In 1989, 56 Crimean Tatar families settled here without waiting for the assistance of the authorities. They decided to build identical houses together, and then divided them by casting lots. His story is about how difficult it was to be a Crimean Tatar in Crimea in those years, how in Zalankoy they were not allowed to name a street after General Grigorenko, and how friendly and united the Crimean Tatars were, despite any trials.
