Shefika Ablyametova was born in the Kutlak village (Veseloie). She was only 7 years old when she was deported. She remembers that horrible night and how her mother, thinking that soviet soldiers came to kill her 8 children, was trying to save at least one child. Shefika’s mother ordered her to climb up to an almond tree. Since then almond has been for her a taste of separation and grieving.
