At the time of the deportation in 1944, Refat Murtazaev was only six months old. His childhood was spent in exile in the Mari Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. He remembers that difficult and hungry times with bitterness and pain. But, despite all the difficulties that befell him, he was able to get back on his feet. He served in military aviation as a mechanical technician for more than 27 years. Work became not just a way to earn a living, but the meaning of life for him. He dedicated his entire career to this profession.
