Meva Ibadlayeva Lost Her Home Twice

After losing her home and homeland in 1944, Meva Ibadlayeva ended up in an orphanage and was forced to search for bread crumbs while wandering the streets. Yet she endured everything, obtained an education, and dedicated many years to pedagogy, becoming an Excellence in Public Education honoree of the Uzbek SSR. In 1989, she was forced to flee her home again and abandon her rebuilt life when the Fergana pogroms began in Uzbekistan. Today, 85-year-old Meva-khanym lives in Crimea with her family and, despite everything, remains grateful to the Almighty for all the trials she has endured.
