Dzhevair Kayko at the age of 18 was felling trees in Mari El

Dzhevair Kayko, a native of the village of Tole, is already 94 years old. But she remembers her childhood, permeated with suffering and pain. Her mother, having been left without her husband early, having sent her eldest son to the war, from where he did not return, saved the life of the remaining 4 of her children. She saved them from hunger, death and disease in a severe exile in Mari El. In 1988, the Kaiko family were lucky to return to Crimea. Dzhevair’s mother was destined to return to her native land. She lived in her Motherland for 9 years and was buried next to her husband in the village where she was born.`
