April 10, 1883 saw the light the first issue of “Terciman” (Translator) — the first Crimean Tatar newspaper in the history. Its founder and publisher was an outstanding Crimean Tatar and Turkic enlightener Ismail Gasprinskiy. The newspaper was in fact the press organ of the entire Turkic-speaking population of the Russian Empire. “Terciman” had been published for 35 years.
