When a Russian says of an old person, “sand is pouring out of him”, a Crimean Tatar will say: “Ay-ayı ketti, vay-vayı qaldı”. That is, such a person is no longer surprised, not happy, but only complains, laments. In our next selection there are other interesting Crimean Tatar phraseological units.
