In Feb 1967 an exhibition that threw into panic Soviet authorities opened in Samarkand. It was closed in a month as the KGB (Committee for State Security of the USSR) interfered in the issue. The reason was the exhibition displayed paintings of…Crimea. Crimean Tatars all over Uzbekistan rushed to the display to see at least a painting of their Homeland.
