The Tashkent trials was concluded 50 years ago

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the «Tashkent trials». This is how was called legal case against 10 Crimean Tatars convicted in 1968 for «making and distributing documents denigrating the Soviet state system», and in fact — for active participation in the national movement. On August 5, ten of them were sentenced. The defendants, two of whom were girls, received real prison sentences from six months to three years. But these trials did not frighten Crimean Tatar society, but also encouraged people to seek the return to their homeland more actively.
