The sub-ethnos «Tats» was formed from the 13th to the 16th centuries and was considered a separate people from the Nogais. During the Crimean Khanate, the affairs of the Tats were even managed by a separate minister «Tat agasy». The sedentary Crimean Tatars formed the administrative core of Crimea.
