Akhmatowicz Reaction: Polish Tatar Made a Discovery in Organic Chemistry

The Akhmatowicz reaction is the name in organic chemistry for the process of synthesizing six-membered rings by oxidizing five-membered rings. It is named after Osman Akhmatowicz Jr., a Polish chemist with Tatar roots. Osman Akhmatowicz’s grandfather in 1918 held the post of Minister of Justice in the Crimean Regional Government.
