«Tatarlığım» – A Crimean Tatar Song About Separation from the Homeland

During the years of exile, the song «Tatarlığım» was an unofficial anthem of the Crimean Tatars. It echoed the bitterness of separation from the homeland reflected in the song. Although the verses that formed the basis of the song «Tatarlığım» were written much earlier – in 1913. Their author is Şevki Bektöre, a well-known educator and poet of the emigration, born in Dobruja (Romania).
